ANGELINA MARTIGNOLI Peacefully on July 3, 2001, Angelina Martignoli, "Nonna", after 102 years of life, leaves behind her daughter Cecile, son-in-law Carson, granddaughters, Tinda (Bill), Vicki (Ralph), Kelly (Lana), Tracy (David) great-grandchildren, Nicole, Michele, Joseph; and her dearest niece Elide in Switzerland. Predeceased by her infant son Renato, husband Emilio, and daughter Noemi. In 1939, with her daughter Noemi, Nonna arrived from Switzerland to reunite with her husband Emilio who had arrived 17 years earlier. A Kings Park pioneer, Nonna worked at the University of Manitoba for over 25 years, receiving many awards for her innovative salad plates. Known by many as the lady with the beautiful flowers, Nonna was infamous for her meticulous corner lot blooming with petunias, geraniums and oriental poppies. Her fond memories of Kings Park can be found in "Fort Garry Remembered" Stories from the Fort Garry Historical Society Collection. The family would like to thank the Fort Garry Personal Care Home for all their kindness. Special thanks to Denis and Don. A thank you as well to Urs Eng, Honorary Consulate of Switzerland, for the flowers and Swiss chocolates. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that an act of kindness be carried out in Nonnas memory. A celebration of her life will be held in Kings Park at "Nonnas Place" on Sunday, July 8 from 2:00 p.m. to 4 p.m. Salute Nonna! LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements. 775-2220.
